Laser Gum Treatment

In the treatment of gingivitis, a treatment protocol is applied according to the level of gingivitis.

What is Gum Disease?

It is now known that tartar causes gum inflammation and needs to be cleaned. When tartar is cleaned and after this cleaning, disinfection of the gums is important. Because bacteria means more tartar. After all, it is the bacteria that causes tartar.

Laser in the Treatment of Gums

During and after the treatment of gums, soft and hard tissue lasers are used. Diseased tissue is removed and healthy tissue is cleaned without damaging it and free of bacteria. A laser device is used to reduce pain and bleeding. In addition, a hard tissue laser is used to bring the gum back onto the cleaned tooth root. The hard tissue laser allows the infected bone to be cleaned.

First Examination in Periodontal Treatment with Laser

After reviewing your medical history and dental records, you will have a comprehensive examination that will determine the exact condition of your teeth and gums. The severity of your gum disease, do you have any systemic conditions? All of these will be evaluated. During this time, all of your concerns and questions will be addressed. Because the general belief in society about gum disease is that teeth will one day fall out. Laser disinfection and gum treatment are treatments that generally eliminate this widespread concern.

Gums are examined with tomography

Because gum disease can cause bone loss, X-rays will be taken to evaluate jawbone height.

Gum Disinfection with Laser

The area to be treated will be anesthetized (with special fine tip needles) and the gum pocket (the grooved structure surrounding the tooth) will be prepared using a laser to provide access and visibility to destroy the diseased tissue and eliminate any bacteria. The hard tissue laser will be able to remove the inflamed and diseased tissue up to the pocket or space created by the gum separating from the tooth.

Correction of Tooth Root with Laser

The laser is then adjusted to remove hardened tartar or plaque deposits from the root of the tooth. This is sometimes done with hand tools, depending on the doctor's preference, and then disinfected.

Is Laser Gum Treatment Painful?

Laser gum treatment does not cause any pain. Special tip anesthesia is used to numb the sensitivity that may occur during normal tartar cleaning. The laser dose used during disinfection or correction of tooth roots does not cause any pain or sensitivity.
