Le titane est utilisé depuis des décennies pour reconstruire la racine d’une dent. Depuis les années 1960, c’est le matériau de choix car il est durable et s’intègre bien à l’os. Un implant en titane se compose de trois parties : le pilier de l’implant, le pilier et la restauration. Le pilier est d’abord inséré chirurgicalement dans l’os de la mâchoire. Une fois l’os cicatrisé, un pilier est ajouté pour fixer votre restauration personnalisée. La partie implantaire est placée dans la mâchoire afin d’assurer une liaison solide pour stabiliser votre nouvelle dent.
Le titane est généralement plus abordable et plus résistant aux fissures et aux fractures que la céramique. Il peut donc s’agir d’une solution rentable.

Les implants en céramique sont relativement récents. Ils ne sont utilisés aux États-Unis que depuis 2009, mais ils sont courants dans les pays européens depuis bien plus longtemps.
