FACE-CHANGING DENTISTRY

Facelift dentistry is a comprehensive aesthetic transformation that goes beyond cosmetic dentistry and porcelain veneers. With this method, the jawline and the entire face are improved.

People do not want to grow old even though they are getting older. One of the most important organs that support the facial structure is the teeth. While the teeth support the jaw, they also support the lips and cheeks surrounding the jaw and act as a carrier column for them.

With age, the chewing surfaces of the teeth wear down, causing the distance between the tip of the nose and the tip of the chin to shorten and the lines called Chinese Mustache to deepen on the edges of the lips.

WHAT IS FACELIFT DENTISTRY?

Facelift is one of the most important applications among the aesthetic applications that are increasing more and more today. The aim of Facelift is to replace the fallen facial tissue.

The reason why most of the patients consider having a facelift is the premature aging in the chin and tickle area. However, something that is not calculated during this application is the melting of the bone tissue in the lips and face. The replacement of the erosion of bone tissue, that is, the wear of the teeth, is only possible by replacing the teeth. And when the teeth are renewed, the face will be automatically supported and a non-surgical facelift will be performed. FACELIFT DENTISTRY applications, also known as non-surgical facelift, aim to re-coordinate the face shape by rearranging the position of the chin.

Rearranging the chin position lifts the face. The soft tissues of the face support the new jaw position and the face in improving the size, shape and angles of the teeth. With this method, the teeth that provide lip support also support the improvement of wrinkles in the corners of the lips. The narrowing of the inside of the mouth that causes snoring is also eliminated by the addition to the teeth.

THE BIGGEST CAUSE OF SNORING IS THE NARROWING ORAL CAVITY.

When the teeth wear down over time and lose their size, they lose their support to the oral cavity. Since the tongue cannot fit, it protrudes forward and blocks the airway. Another complaint we receive from our patients is accidentally biting the tongue or cheek while eating. There is also a thickening on the cheek when viewed from the inside. All these become evident as a result of the loss of support from the teeth to the lower face.

The aim of Facelift Dentistry, that is, in this treatment method, is to correct the wear, deformation and position changes in the teeth, which are part of the skeletal system, to bring the jaw to its ideal position and to support the face again.

The teeth and jaw, which come to the ideal skeletal position, also provide automatic healing in the soft tissue it supports. This prevents premature aging and facial collapse, and in the sagging that has occurred in this area, it almost performs a facelift procedure; It provides non-surgical facial rejuvenation.

WHAT ARE THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF FACELIFT DENTISTRY?

Patients to whom this treatment is applied generally say that the change in teeth creates an almost Pilates effect on the face, that is, these people feel their facial muscles fitter and healthier. They also state that they wake up more energetic in the morning, sleep more comfortably and breathe better. In patients with problems in the jaw joint, there may be an improvement in the jaw joint with the improvement of the size of the teeth. They also mention a significant reduction in head and neck pain. In addition, people with intense teeth grinding say that they get rid of grinding when the teeth regain their original size.

One reason for teeth grinding is the flattening of the chewing surfaces of the teeth. As a result of this flattening, the teeth touch each other more and grind more. When the chewing surfaces regain their original appearance, grinding automatically decreases.

Generally, as mentioned before, the majority of patients who already suffer from tooth wear mention the problem of tongue biting. Because when the teeth wear down, the tongue cannot fit in the mouth and the person can bite his tongue or even his cheek from time to time. After the treatment, these complaints are completely eliminated as the enlarged mouth allows the tongue to move freely. After this treatment, the majority of patients give feedback that “my jaw feels like it is where it should be”. And with the relaxation in their jaws, they also get rid of the sounds coming from the jaw.

The aim of holistic aesthetics is to improve the shape of the face, the profile of the face and the chin position. If there is a disorder in the jaw structure of the person from the beginning, the contact of the teeth with each other should be corrected. Orthodontic treatment is recommended here. Porcelain veneers and cosmetic dentistry applications are now required in cases where the teeth are very worn and have completely lost their vitality and structure.

HOW TO DO FACELIFT DENTISTRY APPLICATION?

EVALUATION

The person to whom this treatment will be applied is first informed about the treatment and how it will work. The person needs to somehow understand whether they need this treatment or whether they are suitable for this treatment, because the current problem may sometimes be not eating, sometimes cold-hot sensitivity in their teeth, sometimes tongue biting or cheek biting. Sometimes the patient does not even know the cause of their problem. They may say, “My teeth are not what they used to be, they are very worn down and that’s why I don’t eat salads. It is a pain for me to eat something cold and chew something hot”. In other words, the important thing is to listen to and evaluate the complaints of the person in making the diagnosis. After this preliminary interview, the analysis part begins.

Photographs are taken and analyzes are made after the photographs are taken.

  • The shape of the face and the proportions on the face are examined. The main thing here is to compare the distance between the tip of the nose and the tip of the chin with the distance between the tip of the nose and the pupils.
  • The lines on the face are evaluated. In particular, it is checked whether the lines at the corner of the lips and near the nose are prominent.
  • At the same time, the size of the teeth and the relationship between the teeth are evaluated.
  • Taking and evaluating X-rays

The aim of both three-dimensional tomography, periapicals to be taken individually and a complete jaw film, i.e. panoramic film, is to evaluate the roots of the teeth to be reconstructed. Fillings and root canal treatments are evaluated one by one in terms of both lesions and caries, because if we are going to make a planning over the existing roots, the soundness of those roots is very important for us.

MEASUREMENT STAGE

Two methods are used in the measurement phase:

Top and bottom measurements are taken and a plaster model is obtained

With 3D scanners, the relationship between the lower and upper jaw and the lower and upper jaw is determined. The amount of abrasions and the bites are evaluated here one by one.

It is necessary to take the existing closure records, that is, to take records of how the existing teeth are currently closing. Measurements are taken digitally here. In the meantime, the cause of the abrasion or bite problem and the discomfort it causes to the patient must be questioned one by one. This questioning is done one by one both on the model, on the x-ray and according to the scan results.

WAX-UP AND MOCK-UP APPLICATION

If a new tooth is to be made and a new jaw structure is to be designed, we must first convey to our patient how this will happen. In other words, the change in the teeth close to the original must be shown to the patient. Mock- Up is a pre-rehearsal of the new tooth to be made. Our patients can easily see the new image on their faces and get an idea about it.

APPLICATION OF THE TREATMENT

The treatment and its duration usually depends on the treatment and the method to be used. Sometimes, upgrades with composites can be completed in one day, and sometimes this treatment time is compatible with the duration of the implant treatment if the treatment is accompanied by implant treatment.

WHAT ARE THE PROBLEMS TO BE FACED AFTER TREATMENT?

It takes some time to adapt to chewing with teeth that have a new chewing surface. This is a process that varies from person to person. Chewing adaptation takes between two and four weeks. Occasionally, pain may occur in the facial muscles, this is due to the fact that the Pilates effect that will occur with the change of chewing surfaces will cause a move in the muscles in the first place. Facial yoga or physical therapy may be recommended for the adaptation of the facial muscles. Muscle relaxation movements with hot towel application are also recommended for our patients. Massage pens developed for the face are also very effective, especially in hardened and difficult to open muscles.

HOW CAN I ADAPT TO MY NEW FACIAL APPEARANCE?

Massaging as much as possible, making movements to move the facial muscles as much as possible, ensures adaptation to the new facial appearance. The change in the face is always a positive change. The change realized with this treatment, which is a non-surgical facelift procedure, shows its effect by increasing day by day, that is, rejuvenation manifests itself day by day by increasing the opening of wrinkles, the recovery of the jowl area, and the re-maturation of the lips.

WHAT IS LOOKED FOR IN CONTROLS?

The night plate is definitely given to the patients, because in the beginning, the body may cause a grinding movement to break the restorations made in order to regain its old closure. For this reason, the use of a night plate is especially recommended for the first two months. Long-term use of the night plate is also necessary for both the continuity of the restorations and the permanence of the treatment.

At the six-monthly check-ups, both the underlying teeth and the teeth and gums are checked with X-rays, i.e. the same as routine oral check-ups.
