Traditional Dentures

Traditional palatal dentures are divided into two categories, according to the number of teeth remaining in the mouth: ‘Total Dentures’, which we prepare for completely edentulous mouths, and ‘Partial Dentures’, which we prepare for cases where there are only a few teeth left in the mouth.

Aesthetic Perfection: Dentures provide the appearance of natural teeth.

Durability: Made from high quality materials for long-lasting results.

Stain Resistance: It is less prone to staining than natural teeth.

Functionality: Restores normal chewing and biting function.

Procedure

With these prosthetics, we replace not only the teeth that our patients have lost, but also the bone tissue, soft tissue and lip support that were lost along with the teeth. In this way, the collapses and wrinkles that occur due to the loss of support around the mouth and face area are reduced and disappear.

 Initial Examination and Diagnosis

Determining the health status of the patient.

 Personalized Treatment Planning

Creating a customized plan for each patient.

 Minimally Invasive Procedure

Performing treatments with minimal tissue disturbance.

 Careful Follow-up

Monitoring recovery and success after treatment.

Traditional Dentures

In oral and dental health, each tooth is in dynamic balance with each other. Chewing problems that occur due to tooth loss can cause many temporary/permanent discomforts in our joints by causing unbalanced forces on the jaw joint. In addition, due to inadequate grinding of nutrients, it can cause problems in the digestive system such as the stomach and intestines. As the number of missing teeth increases, the frequency and severity of these problems increase.

Traditional palatal dentures are divided into two categories, according to the number of teeth remaining in the mouth: ‘Total Dentures’, which we prepare for completely edentulous mouths, and ‘Partial Dentures’, which we prepare for cases where there are only a few teeth left in the mouth.

Total dentures are removable dentures, commonly known as palatal dentures, that we prepare by taking support from the remaining bone tissue in cases where there are no teeth left in our mouth.

What is the Aim of Treatment with Palatal Prosthetics?

With these prosthetics, we replace not only the teeth that our patients have lost, but also the bone tissue, soft tissue and lip support that were lost along with the teeth. In this way, the collapses and wrinkles that occur due to the loss of support around the mouth and face area are reduced and disappear.

How Do Palatal Dentures Stay in the Mouth?

While applying total dentures to the lower jaw, where we can provide retention by creating negative pressure with the vacuum effect, we support retention and significantly increase the comfort of the prosthesis by placing at least two implants depending on the amount of bone remaining in the lower jaw.

What is a Hooked Palatal Prosthesis?

In traditional partial dentures, more commonly known as hooked dentures, we replace the missing teeth in the mouth with the dentures we prepare, while providing retention with metal clasps that extend to the existing teeth. However, today, except for very exceptional cases, we treat partial edentulism with implant treatment or sliding dentures.

Is It Normal to Have a Impact on a Palatal Prosthesis?

It is extremely normal for a newly prepared palatal prosthesis to have issues such as bruising, wounds, and stinging in the first stage. These problems will completely disappear after minor adjustments to the prosthesis and adaptation of the tissues to the prosthesis in a few control appointments.

How Should Palatal Dentures Be Maintained?

Your dentures should be removed after meals and cleaned gently. The dentures should be brushed with a soft toothbrush or a denture brush, without using toothpaste. The toothpastes we use for our teeth in daily life are abrasive for the denture surfaces and can cause scratches. After brushing, the dentures should be rinsed thoroughly with running water. For daily denture cleaning, you should put your dentures and 1 denture cleaning tablet in a glass of warm water. The water in the glass should be enough to cover the dentures. It is sufficient to use the cleaning tablets 2-3 nights a week. Other than that, it is sufficient to leave the dentures in water at night. If your dentures become loose and incompatible with your mouth, you should see your dentist for a check-up. Loose dentures can cause irritation, sores in the mouth and infection. In such cases, you should see your dentist without wasting too much time.
