What is Bar-Retained Dentures?
It is a type of prosthesis that we apply in cases of complete edentulism, prepared like traditional palatal prostheses and maintained with the help of a metal plate prepared on implants placed in the jawbone.
Restoring Full Tooth Function: Allows normal eating, speaking and smiling.
Advanced Aesthetics: Provides a natural looking smile and increases self-confidence.
Preservation of Facial Structure: It prevents osteoporosis and preserves facial integrity.
Long Term Solution: It is durable and can last a lifetime with proper care.
Santé bucco-dentaire améliorée : It reduces the risk of oral health problems due to tooth loss.
Procedure
After completing the intraoral examination and radiographic examinations of our patients, we complete our implant planning. Then, the implants are placed in the jawbone in a completely sterile environment. Then, the implants are expected to fuse with the bone. During this process, we quickly prepare a temporary removable prosthesis for our patients so that they do not go through this process without teeth. At the end of the bone-fusing process, measurements are taken on the implants and the construction of our real prosthesis begins. After the measurement phase, taking the bite record, seeing the final state of the teeth in the mouth and making the final adjustments, our prosthesis is completed.

What are our aims in treatment with bar prosthetics?
As with palatal prostheses, we aim to replace not only the teeth that our patients have lost, but also the bone tissue, soft tissue and lip support that are lost along with the teeth. Compared to traditional palatal prostheses, we aim to make a much more advanced prosthesis and provide more effective retention by providing retention with a metal structure supported by implants.
How Should Bar Dentures Be Maintained?
We can consider bar dentures in two parts: the metal bar in the mouth and the removable part. After meals, the mobile part should be removed from our mouth and gently cleaned. The denture should be brushed with a soft toothbrush or a denture brush without using toothpaste. The important factor to pay attention to in these dentures is not to damage the retaining parts located inside our mobile denture. The toothpastes we use for our teeth in daily life are abrasive for the denture surfaces and can cause scratches. After brushing, the denture should be rinsed thoroughly with running water. For daily denture cleaning, you should put your denture and 1 denture cleaning tablet in a glass of warm water. The water in the glass should be enough to cover the denture. It is sufficient to use the cleaning tablets 2-3 nights a week. Other than that, it is sufficient to keep the dentures in water at night.
We need to clean the bar structure left in the mouth with a toothbrush and dental floss used for bridges after every meal. Since the bar structure can cause extra food retention, special care should be taken to clean those areas. The use of oral irrigators can be useful in this sense.
