Facelift Dentistry

Facelift dentistry is a comprehensive aesthetic transformation that goes beyond cosmetic dentistry and porcelain veneers. This method improves the jawline and the entire face.

Comprehensive Smile and Facial Enhancement: It addresses both dental aesthetics and facial features.

Non-Surgical Approach: It offers a less invasive alternative to traditional facelift surgeries.

Improved Mouth Function: It not only improves the appearance but also the function of your teeth.

Personalized Treatment: Tailored to fit each patient's unique facial features and dental needs.

Procedure

The reason why most of his patients consider facelift is premature aging in the chin and jowl area. However, something that is not taken into account during this application is the melting of the bone tissue in the lips and face. Replacing the melting of the bone tissue, that is, the wear of the teeth, is only possible by renewing the teeth. And when the teeth are renewed, the face will automatically be supported and the non-surgical facelift will be performed. Facelift Dentistry applications, also known as non-surgical facelift, aim to re-coordinate the face shape by rearranging the position of the jaw.

Face-Changing Dentistry?

Facelift dentistry is a comprehensive aesthetic transformation that goes beyond cosmetic dentistry and porcelain veneers. This method improves the jawline and the entire face.

People do not want to grow old even though they are getting older. One of the most important organs that support the facial structure is the teeth. While the teeth support the jaw, the lips and cheeks surrounding the jaw also support these parts and act as a carrier column for them.

With age, the chewing surfaces of the teeth wear down, causing the distance between the tip of the nose and the tip of the chin to shorten and the lines called Chinese Moustache to deepen at the corners of the lips.

What is Facelift Dentistry?

One of the most important applications among the increasing aesthetic applications today is Facelift. The aim of Facelift is to replace the fallen facial tissue.

Rearranging the jaw position lifts the face. The soft tissues of the face support the new jaw position and the face in improving the size, shape and angle of the teeth. With this method, the teeth that provide lip support also help improve the wrinkles at the corners of the lips. The narrowing of the mouth that causes snoring is also eliminated by the addition of teeth.

The Biggest Cause of Snoring is Narrowed Oral Cavity

When teeth wear down and lose their size over time, they also lose their support for the oral cavity. Since the tongue cannot fit, it protrudes forward and blocks the airway. Another complaint we receive from our patients is accidentally biting the tongue or cheek while eating. In addition, thickening is seen on the cheek when viewed from the inside. All of these become apparent as a result of the loss of support for the lower surface of the teeth.

The aim of Facelift Dentistry application, that is, this treatment method, is to correct the wear, deformation and position changes in the teeth, which are a part of the skeletal system, to bring the jaw to its ideal position and to provide support to the face again.

The teeth and jaw that come to the ideal skeletal position also provide automatic healing in the soft tissue they support. This prevents premature aging and facial collapse, and performs a face lift on sagging that has occurred in this area; providing rejuvenation of the face without surgery.

What are the Health Benefits of Facelift Dentistry?

Patients who have this treatment generally say that the change in their teeth creates a pilates effect on the face, meaning that these people feel their facial muscles more vigorous and healthier. They also state that they wake up more vigorous in the morning, sleep more comfortably and breathe better. In patients with jaw joint problems, there may be an improvement in the jaw joint as the size of the teeth improves. They also mention a significant decrease in head and neck pain. In addition, people who grind their teeth intensely say that they get rid of grinding when their teeth return to their original size.

One cause of teeth grinding is the flattening of the chewing surfaces of the teeth. As a result of this flattening, the teeth come into contact with each other more and cause more grinding. When the chewing surfaces regain their original appearance, grinding automatically decreases.

As mentioned before, most patients who already suffer from tooth wear usually mention the problem of biting the tongue. Because when the teeth wear down, the tongue cannot fit into the mouth and the person can sometimes bite their tongue or even their cheek. After the treatment, these complaints are completely eliminated as the expanded mouth provides the tongue with space to move freely. Most patients report that “my jaw feels like it is where it should be” after this treatment. And with the relaxation in their jaw, they also get rid of the sounds coming from the jaw.

The aim of holistic aesthetics is to improve the shape of the face, the profile of the face and the position of the jaw. If there is a disorder in the person's jaw structure from the beginning, the contact of the teeth with each other needs to be corrected. Orthodontic treatment is recommended first. In cases where the teeth are very worn and have completely lost their vitality and structure, porcelain veneers and cosmetic dentistry applications are now required.

How is Facelift Dentistry Performed?

Evaluation

The person who will undergo this procedure is first informed about the treatment and how it will be performed. The person needs to understand that they need this treatment or are suitable for this treatment because the current problem may sometimes be not eating, sometimes cold-hot sensitivity in their teeth, sometimes biting their tongue or cheek. Sometimes the patient does not even know the cause of their problem. They may say, “My teeth are not what they used to be, they are very worn down and that is why I do not eat salad. Eating something cold and chewing something hot is almost agony for me.” In other words, the important thing is to listen to and evaluate the person’s complaints in making a diagnosis. After this preliminary interview, the analysis part is started.

Photographs are taken, and analyses are performed after the photographs are taken.

  • The shape of the face and the proportions on the face are examined. The main thing here is to compare the distance between the tip of the nose and the tip of the chin with the distance between the tip of the nose and the pupils.
  • The lines on the face are evaluated. It is especially checked whether the lines at the corner of the lips and next to the nose are prominent.
  • At the same time, whether there is any wear on the teeth, the size of the teeth and the relationship between the teeth are evaluated.

Taking and evaluating x-rays

The purpose of both three-dimensional tomography and individual periapicals and complete jaw film, namely panoramic film, is to evaluate the roots of the teeth to be reconstructed. Fillings and root canal treatments applied to the teeth are evaluated individually in terms of both lesions and decay because if we are going to make a plan based on the existing roots, the strength of those roots is very important to us.

Measurement Phase

Two methods are used in the measurement phase:

  1. Upper and lower measurements are taken and a plaster model is obtained.
  2. The relationship between the lower and upper jaw and the lower and upper jaw is determined with 3D scanners. The amount of wear and bite are evaluated individually here.
  3. It is necessary to obtain current bite records, that is, records of how the current teeth are closing. Here, measurements are taken in a digital environment. During this time, the cause of the wear or bite problem and the discomfort it creates in the patient must be questioned one by one. This questioning is done individually on the model, on the x-ray and according to the scan results.

Waxup and Mockup Application

If a new tooth is to be made and a new jaw structure is to be designed, we must definitely explain to our patient how this will be done beforehand. In other words, the change in the teeth that is close to the original must be shown to the patient. Mock-Up is a preliminary rehearsal of the new tooth that will be made. Our patients can easily see the new image on their faces and get an idea about it.

Application of Treatment

The duration and process of the treatment usually vary depending on the treatment to be performed and the method to be used. Sometimes the enhancements to be made with composites are completely completed in one day, and sometimes this application time is compatible with the duration of the implant treatment in treatments that also include implant treatment.

What are the problems that may be encountered after treatment?

Adaptation to chewing with teeth that have a new chewing surface takes some time. This is a process that varies from person to person. Chewing adaptation occurs between two and four weeks. Pain may occasionally occur in the facial muscles, the reason for this is that the pilates effect that will occur with the change of chewing surfaces will primarily cause a stiffness in the muscles. Face yoga or physical therapy may be recommended for adaptation of the facial muscles. Muscle relaxation movements with hot towel application are also recommended to our patients. Massage pens developed for the face are also very effective, especially in hardened and difficult to open muscles.

How Can I Adapt to My New Facial Appearance?

Massaging as much as possible, making movements that will move the facial muscles as much as possible, provides adaptation to the new facial appearance. The change that will occur on the face is always a positive change. The change achieved with this treatment, which is a non-surgical face lift, shows its effect by increasing day by day, in other words, rejuvenation, opening of wrinkles, tightening of the chin area, re-maturation of the lips show themselves increasingly day by day.

What is Looked at During Checkups?

A night plate is definitely given to the patient, because in the beginning, the body may produce a grinding movement aimed at breaking the restorations in order to regain its old closure. For this reason, the use of a night plate is especially recommended for the first two months. The long-term use of a night plate is also necessary for both the continuity of the restorations and the permanence of the treatment.

During the six-monthly check-ups, both the lower teeth and the teeth and gums are checked with X-rays, in other words, the checks continue in the same way as the routine oral check-ups.
