What is Immediate Implant Application?
Immediate implant application or immediate implant is the placement of an implant on the same day the tooth is extracted. In this method, the dental implant is placed in the same session as the tooth extraction. It is a preferred technique because it provides results in a shorter time compared to traditional methods, but it may not be suitable for every case.
Time Saving: Tooth extraction and implant placement are performed at the same time, eliminating the time needed to wait for bone healing. This significantly shortens treatment time.
Reducing Bone Loss: After tooth extraction, bone resorption (bone loss) naturally begins. Immediate implant placement can help reduce bone loss and support bone preservation.
Less Surgical Intervention: Instead of two separate surgical procedures, both tooth extraction and implant placement are performed in a single procedure. This offers the patient less surgical trauma and a shorter recovery time.
Improving Aesthetic Results: Especially in the front tooth area, immediate implants are beneficial in terms of both improving aesthetic results and minimizing the time spent without teeth.

Tooth Extraction
The tooth must be extracted carefully, care must be taken to avoid damaging the surrounding tissues and bone structure.
Implant Placement
After the tooth is extracted, the implant is immediately placed. An implant of the appropriate size for the extraction space is selected and placed firmly into the bone in the extraction space.
Bone Graft
In some cases, a gap may form in the extraction area. In this case, bone graft is added to increase the bone volume around the implant and ensure the stability of the implant.
Temporary Prosthesis
After the implant is placed, in some cases a temporary prosthesis can be placed. This prosthesis meets aesthetic needs and is used during the healing process. However, it can take several months for the implant to fully heal and fuse with the bone, so a permanent prosthesis is not immediately fitted.

Conditions for Immediate Implant Application
Not every patient may be suitable for immediate implantation. Certain conditions are necessary for this method to be successful:
- Sufficient Amount of Bone: There must be sufficient bone volume and density in the area where the implant will be placed. If the bone is insufficient, bone grafting may be required first.
- An Inflammation-Free EnvironmentThere should be no active infection in the area where the tooth will be extracted. It may be safer to wait for the infection to heal after the inflamed teeth are extracted.
- Gum Health: The health of the gum tissue affects the healing process and the stability of the implant. Unhealthy gums can negatively affect the success of the implant.
- Primary Stability: The implant must have sufficient stability in the bone at the time it is placed. If the implant is not stable enough at the time it is placed, problems may occur during the healing process.
Risks of Immediate Implantation
- If Sufficient Stability Is Not AchievedIf adequate stability is not achieved at the time of implant placement, the implant may fail during the healing process.
- Risk of InfectionIf there is infection or inflammation in the extraction area, this may negatively affect the success of the implant and may lead to implant loss.
- Complications: Some complications may develop during the post-extraction healing process, which may cause the implant to fail.
