They are pathological structures and masses that develop in the jawbone or gums. They usually occur as a result of abnormal growth of teeth, jawbone or soft tissues. Cysts and tumors may sometimes not cause obvious symptoms, but large growths can damage the jaw structure or cause aesthetic and functional problems. Jaw tumors are abnormal cellular growths that originate in the jawbone or surrounding tissues of the teeth. The tumors are usually more aggressive and have the risk of becoming malignant. Malignant tumors can spread into surrounding tissues and cause more serious health problems.

Diagnostic Methods

Various methods are used to diagnose jaw cysts and tumors:

• X-Ray (Panoramic X-Ray): Shows the presence and size of cysts or tumors. Shows the changes in the jaw bone.
• Computed Tomography (CT): Provides more detailed visualization of cysts, tumors, and other changes in the jawbone.
• Biopsy: It is done to determine whether the cyst or tumor is benign or malignant.

Treatment Methods

Treatment for cysts and tumors varies depending on the patient's condition and the type of cyst/tumor. Treatment options include:

• Surgical intervention: Removal of the cyst or tumor is often the primary treatment method. This is done while preserving the surrounding tissue.
• Chemotherapy and RadiotherapyIn malignant tumors, supportive treatment with chemotherapy and radiotherapy may be required after surgery.
• Monitoring and Tracking: Long-term monitoring may be required after surgical removal of some cysts and tumors, as some cysts and tumors tend to reoccur.
