Sliding Dentures
It is another type of tooth with a movable section, known in literature as precision attachment dentures, and known among our patients as ‘Sliding Teeth’ or ‘Snap Teeth’.
Aesthetic Perfection: Dentures provide the appearance of natural teeth.
Durability: Made from high quality materials for long-lasting results.
Stain Resistance: It is less prone to staining than natural teeth.
Functionality: Restores normal chewing and biting function.
Procedure
As with palatal dentures, we replace not only the teeth our patients have lost, but also the bone tissue, soft tissue and lip support that have been lost along with the teeth. Compared to traditional partial dentures, the absence of metal hooks in sliding dentures allows us to create a much more aesthetically advanced denture and a more effective retention.
Initial Examination and Diagnosis
Determining the health status of the patient.
Personalized Treatment Planning
Creating a customized plan for each patient.
Minimally Invasive Procedure
Performing treatments with minimal tissue disturbance.
Careful Follow-up
Monitoring recovery and success after treatment.
What are Sliding Dentures?
It is another type of tooth with a movable section, known in literature as precision attachment dentures, and known among our patients as ‘Sliding Teeth’ or ‘Snap Teeth’.
Who Can Get Sliding Dentures?
It is a treatment protocol that we apply to patients who have multiple tooth losses, as in traditional partial dentures. We generally prefer these dentures in patients with very advanced bone loss or in patients with systemic diseases for whom we cannot perform implants.
How are sliding dentures applied?
In this type of prosthesis, we provide retention in our removable prosthesis with the parts we place on the existing teeth in the mouth. To do this, we first prepare special coatings for the teeth in the mouth and adapt these coatings with special retaining parts such as sliders and ball heads. We add special retaining parts compatible with these parts to the inner surface of our removable prosthesis and complete our treatment.
What are our aims in treatment with sliding dentures?
As with palatal dentures, we replace not only the teeth our patients have lost, but also the bone tissue, soft tissue and lip support that have been lost along with the teeth. Compared to traditional partial dentures, the absence of metal hooks in sliding dentures allows us to create a much more aesthetically advanced denture and a more effective retention.
How Should Sliding Dentures Be Maintained?
We can consider sliding dentures in two parts: the teeth in the mouth and the removable part. After meals, we need to remove the moving part from our mouth and clean it gently. The denture should be brushed with a soft toothbrush or a denture brush without using toothpaste. The important factor to pay attention to in these dentures is not to damage the retaining parts located inside our removable denture. The toothpastes we use for our teeth in daily life are abrasive for the denture surfaces and can cause scratches. After brushing, the denture should be rinsed thoroughly with running water. For daily denture cleaning, you should put your denture and 1 denture cleaning tablet in a glass of warm water. The water in the glass should be enough to cover the denture. It is sufficient to use the cleaning tablets 2-3 nights a week. Other than that, it is sufficient to keep the dentures in water at night.
We need to clean our veneers that remain in the mouth after every meal, just like natural teeth, with a toothbrush and dental floss used for bridges. Since the retaining elements in the mouth can cause additional food retention, special care should be taken to clean those areas. The use of mouthwashes can be useful in this sense.
