Fluoride is a mineral found in nature. Fluor Application
Fluoride is a mineral found in nature. It has been proven in many studies in the literature that fluoride applied in dentistry does not have any harmful effects on the person, but on the contrary, it prevents the formation of new cavities in the teeth and/or the progression of existing cavities by strengthening the tooth enamel.
There are many methods of applying fluoride (toothpaste, mouthwash, gel, varnish). Gel, varnish and paste forms are frequently applied in dentistry clinical practices. The frequency of which type of fluoride to be applied (every 3 or 6 months) is determined by considering the child's age and caries risk status. Similarly, the child's age and caries risk status are also decisive in the use of fluoride toothpaste.
