What is PRF?
PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin), i.e. platelet-rich fibrin, is a biomaterial obtained from the patient's own blood, used to accelerate the natural healing process and support tissue regeneration. PRF is obtained by centrifuging the patient's blood without any chemical substance and is a completely biocompatible material. It accelerates wound healing and bone formation processes thanks to the high amount of platelets, growth factors and cytokines it contains.
Natural and Biological: Since PRF is obtained from the patient's own blood, it is a completely biological material and is quickly accepted by the body.
Fast Recovery: Since it contains high amounts of growth factors, it accelerates wound healing and helps tissues recover more quickly.
Reduces Inflammation: PRF reduces inflammation and swelling, allowing the patient to have a more comfortable post-operative period.
High Success Rate: PRF promotes the formation of new bone and soft tissue, which increases the success of procedures such as implants and bone grafting.
Procedure
PRF is widely used in various surgical and regenerative procedures in dentistry. Since it accelerates the natural healing processes, it allows patients to recover more quickly and increases the success rate of surgical procedures.
Blood Collection
Taking blood from the arm.
Centrifugal
The collected blood is separated using a special centrifuge device.
Transfer of Obtained Prof.
The resulting dense fibrin network contains platelets, growth factors and white blood cells, promoting tissue regeneration in the transferred area.
What is PRF? What are its areas of use in dentistry?
PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin), i.e. platelet-rich fibrin, is a biomaterial obtained from the patient's own blood, used to accelerate the natural healing process and support tissue regeneration. PRF is obtained by centrifuging the patient's blood without any chemical substance and is a completely biocompatible material. It accelerates wound healing and bone formation processes thanks to the high amount of platelets, growth factors and cytokines it contains.
How to Obtain PRF?
PRF is obtained by separating the blood taken from the patient's arm with a special centrifuge device. As a result of this process, platelets, growth factors and white blood cells accumulate densely in fibrin. The resulting biomaterial contains a dense fibrin network and supports tissue regeneration in the area where it is applied.
Areas of Use of PRF in Dentistry
PRF is widely used in various surgical and regenerative procedures in dentistry. Since it accelerates the natural healing processes, it both allows patients to recover in a shorter time and increases the success rate of surgical procedures. The main areas of use of PRF in dentistry are:
Implant Surgery:
- After the implant is placed, PRF is used to promote bone formation and allow the implant to fuse more quickly. Applying PRF to the implant site increases the stability of the implant by accelerating the healing process.
Bone Grafting and Bone Regeneration:
- PRF is used to accelerate new bone formation in areas where bone grafting has been performed. Especially in patients with bone deficiency, PRF application together with bone grafting supports the integration and healing of the graft.
Recovery After Tooth Extraction:
- Applying PRF after tooth extraction allows the extraction cavity to heal faster. PRF supports clot formation in the extraction area and prevents bone loss. In addition, wound healing is accelerated and the risk of complications is reduced.
Sinus Lift:
- The use of PRF in sinus lift operations protects the sinus membrane and accelerates the healing process. The application of PRF together with bone graft during the sinus lift procedure increases bone regeneration.
Periodontal Treatments (Gum Diseases):
- PRF is used in the treatment of gum disease, especially during gum surgery. In periodontal surgery, it is applied to accelerate the healing of the gum and supporting tissues. PRF heals the gum tissue and helps prevent bone loss.
Soft Tissue Regeneration:
- PRF is used to support the healing of the gums or other soft tissues in the mouth. Especially in cases of gum recession or tissue grafting, PRF application provides faster and healthier tissue healing.
Apical Resection:
- In apical resection operations (removal of the tip of the tooth root), PRF accelerates wound healing and reduces the risk of infection.
Advantages of PRF in Dentistry
- Natural and BiologicalSince PRF is obtained from the patient's own blood, it is a completely biological material and is quickly accepted by the body.
- Fast Recovery: Since it contains high amounts of growth factors, it accelerates wound healing and helps tissues recover more quickly.
- Reduces InflammationPRF reduces inflammation and swelling, allowing the patient to have a more comfortable post-operative period.
- Bone and Tissue Regeneration: PRF supports the formation of new bone and soft tissue, which increases the success of procedures such as implants and bone grafting
