Dentures, generally known as veneers in society and referred to as ‘crown-bridge prostheses’ in the literature, are fixed prostheses prepared on teeth or implants. Normally, it is not expected for these prepared prostheses to come out on their own after being placed on teeth or implants in a fixed manner. However, this can happen for various reasons. Let’s look at these reasons together.
- During the application of the prepared prostheses in the mouth, If an error is made in the bonding protocol or if a bonding agent suitable for the prosthesis is not used, coatings may fall off because sufficient bonding strength will not be achieved.
- Especially in old veneers that have been in the mouth for a long time, due to time-related deterioration in fit and edge leakage. caries occurring in the supporting teeth may cause the coatings to fall off.
- Severe teeth grinding (bruxism) In cases where veneers are exposed to excessive forces that exceed normal physiological limits on the teeth for a long time, such as those caused by dental veneers, the veneer may be damaged or the adhesive itself may break and the veneers may fall off.
- Prepared coating error in fitting with the tooth or placement in the wrong position as a result, the coatings may fall off.
- In implant-supported screw-mounted coatings prepared without using adhesives, loosening may occur in the screw that provides the implant-prosthesis connection. In this case, the coating may wobble or fall off completely.
Since the loss of a crown is an unexpected situation, if your dental crown falls out, it is necessary to consult a dentist immediately to evaluate the situation and make the necessary corrections.
