Connective Tissue Graft

Connective Tissue Graft / Free Gum Graft

Contrary to popular belief, gum recession is not incurable. If timely and correct intervention is not made, this condition can result in tooth loss, but it is a condition that can be treated with a specialist and the right technique.

The main factor that causes gum recession must be found and eliminated. The procedure that allows the exposed root surface to be covered with gum again with appropriate minor surgical procedures is called connective tissue grafting.

The root surface exposed by a connective tissue graft (CTG) or free gingival graft (FG) can be covered with the person's own gum tissue in a single-session minor surgical procedure.

What are the problems that will arise if the root surface is not sealed?

If the exposed root surface is not closed;

  • Tooth root caries
  • Progression of gum recession
  • Formation de zones difficiles à nettoyer
  • Sensibility
  • Aesthetic problems
  • Loose teeth
  • Unwanted consequences such as tooth loss may occur.

The advantages of BDG and SDG are as follows:

  • Since the person's own tissue is used, there is no risk of allergy or rejection of the tissue.
  • Since no artificial material will be used, there is no extra material cost.
  • All wound areas are inside the mouth.

Routine check-ups and cleaning sessions every 6 months are of great importance for the early detection and treatment of such situations that can be easily resolved. We should not neglect our routine check-ups.
