What are Screw-Retained Implant-Supported Teeth?
Prostheses prepared on implants, in which the implant-prosthesis connection is provided with screws suitable for the prepared prosthesis, are called screw-supported implant prostheses.
Why do we prefer screw-retained teeth in implant-supported dentures?
The teeth that we bond to the part on the implant using an adhesive agent called cement, especially in cases where the implant remains deep due to excessive destruction in the bone, it may not always be possible to completely clean the adhesives used from the tissues, no matter how meticulously we work.
Unnoticed and unnoticeable adhesive residues can damage the tissues around the implant. We eliminate this risk by using screw-retained prostheses.
The ease of fixing and removing screw-retained prostheses on support implants makes it very easy to intervene in the prostheses or the tissues around the implant.
In case of any problem that may occur in the prosthesis over time (chipping, breaking in porcelain, etc.), the prostheses can be easily repaired by removing them from the screws, or if repair is not possible, they can be easily renewed.
Screw teeth can be easily removed and reattached, allowing them to be removed from the mouth and cleaned underneath.
Does Using Screw Threads Increase Cost?
Although it varies according to the system to be used, screw teeth generally do not cause an extra financial burden. In some special cases, if there are spacers that can be used, your doctor will foresee the situation and share with you the information about the possible changes.
Can Screw Threads Always Be Applied?
As with every treatment, screw implant applications have their limits. Since each individual's mouth structure and the treatment option to be applied will be personalized, the most accurate answer to this question will become clear as a result of the necessary imaging methods and intraoral examination evaluated by your physician.
