Why is Bone Tissue Important?
Our teeth are the only organs that we use without a break from the moment they come into our mouth. If we do not have regular maintenance and check-ups of this organ, its loss is inevitable. A tooth that is about to be lost often loses its surrounding tissues. The lost tissue is bone tissue. The loss of bone tissue sometimes reaches serious levels due to cysts and tumors, inflammatory diseases, trauma and tooth loss. Reconstructing the lost bone is a very important and sensitive situation in terms of aesthetic problems, facial asymmetry and the inability to chew.
How is Block Graft Applied?
The size of the procedure to be performed and the material to be used can be decided as a result of the films taken. If there is no problem with the general health status of the patient who will undergo the procedure or the medications he/she uses, it is more valuable for the patient's own bone to be used during surgery to predict the success of the treatment. This bone is taken from the donor area in the patient's mouth and placed in the recipient area with special techniques and auxiliary equipment. Bone healing is expected to occur for 6-8 months after surgery. After this stage, the bone is ready for implant or prosthesis construction.
