Implant Supported Dentures

Types of Prosthetics

Hybrid Prosthetics

In toothless mouths, especially in people who have been without teeth for many years and the bone that provides good support for the lips has completely disappeared, the gum tissue must also be replaced. The aim here is to ensure tissue harmony and aesthetics, and to restore speech, chewing and hygiene.

The doctor also gives the chance to use fewer implants in the construction of hybrid prostheses, that is, the chance to make a fixed prosthesis by placing 4-6 implants is possible with hybrid prostheses. For this, the implant-top structure must also be designed from the beginning. The prosthesis to be made on the second piece, which we call the implant-top abutment, has options in terms of shape and form.

Implant Supported Removable Dentures

In cases where the jawbone is quite thin, we may not be able to offer our patients a completely fixed prosthesis option. In this case, our patients can get rid of the constant movement of the lower jaw and the constant falling of the upper jaw with implant-supported removable prostheses. For this, 2-4-5 implants are placed in the lower jaw and a removable prosthesis is made on structures such as bars or inventions that will be made on these implants. The removable prosthesis is placed and removed to ensure that our patient maintains hygiene in that area.

Treatment Options for Mandibular Implant-Supported Removable Dentures

Doctors and patients know that lower dentures are much more problematic than all other dentures. The aim of implant application is to make the denture as stable as possible.

When complete denture patients have a removable denture supported by implants, they also have the bone loss caused by tooth loss and the resulting aesthetic and chewing losses treated, meaning they regain their health.

Advantages of Implant-Supported Removable Dentures

  • They protect against bone loss in the lower anterior region
  • They increase aesthetics
  • They ensure the stabilization of the prosthesis during chewing and chewing.
  • They prevent soft tissue damage and prevent soft tissue thinning.
  • They support the language in speaking and ensure that speech is improved.
  • They provide thinning in the volume of the prosthesis, allowing a thinner prosthesis to be made.

What is the advantage of implant-supported removable dentures over fixed dentures?

  • They provide fewer implants, less bone addition, and less specific placement, meaning they give our patients the chance for a stable prosthesis with two or four implants placed in the lower front area, where the jawbone is thickest.
  • Soft tissue problems are less because brushing around the implant is sufficient as they are inserted and removed.
  • Since they are removed while sleeping, they are not subject to squeezing or grinding during the night.
  • This period is passed with a removable temporary prosthesis until the main prosthesis is made.
  • It supports the lips and cheeks with its gum appearance that supports the soft tissue and eliminates the melting here.

Disadvantages of Implant-Supported Removable Dentures

The disadvantage of this type of prosthesis is entirely related to patient desire, because patients generally do not want to remove their prosthesis. While fixed prostheses are generally perceived as a part of the body, wearing a removable prosthesis and cleaning it in this way is a psychologically undesirable situation for patients.

From time to time, deformations and movements may occur in the bars and sometimes in the part of the prosthesis where the bars are placed.
