Crooked teeth may occur for several reasons:
-Genetic transfer
-Parafunctional habits
-Early milk teeth and/or permanent teeth extraction
Genetic transmission
Habitudes parafonctionnelles
Habits such as thumb sucking, nail biting, pencil tip biting, etc., especially those developed during or before the mixed dentition period, disrupt the development of teeth and jaws, causing crookedness and malocclusion in the teeth.
Early milk tooth extraction
Milk teeth guide the permanent teeth coming out from underneath them, ensuring that the permanent teeth are in the proper position.
Baby teeth that are extracted prematurely, if a space maintainer is not used, disrupt the developmental positions of the permanent teeth and cause them to be in different positions. This causes crowding and malocclusion in the teeth.
Permanent tooth extraction
We often encounter the loss of our first molars, which are thought to be milk teeth and come out at the age of 6, due to decay or other reasons. When the place of the extracted permanent teeth is not completed with treatments such as implants or bridges, the teeth tend to close the gap and move towards the gap, which causes crooked teeth.
